Philadelphia First Time Homebuyers

What to know:

  • Recipients must be a first-time homebuyer or a buyer who has not owned a home for at least three years
  • Be a resident of the City of Philadelphia for three years and must purchase a home in Philadelphia
  • Housing counseling at a DHCD funded housing counseling agency is required
  • Borrowers MUST apply for funds before entering an agreement of sale
  • Grant will be forgiven after 15 years, and in interim will become a lien on the first mortgage
  • Income eligibility requirements apply & are displayed below

The program can be used with FHA, Conventional, and VA loans. Funds are limited and the program is expected to help over 300 families or individuals purchase homes in the second half of 2019.

The City of Philadelphia's Division of Housing and Community Development recently announced a new grant aiding first time home-buyers with up to $10,000 towards closing costs!
